RomansDick SztanyoThe book of Romans is generally considered to be one of the most profound of all the books of the Bible. Designed to set forth the doctrine of salvation as understood by Paul and communicated to those whom he had never met, this book is an anchor of the New Testament. One writer said, “If you get Romans, God will get you.” In a very real sense, your instructor believes this to be true. From its theme, “The just shall live by faith,” Paul sets forth an argument developed in four stages: (1) Justification Needed; (2) Justification Provided; (3) Justification Rejected; and (4) Justification Enjoyed. We will explore his argument together in class with a view to a clearer understanding of this magnificent epistle. |
